The World of Masks - Chapter 136
Part 1
A rugged mountain. A mountain that rises through the sands of the desert and pierces the sky is made of nothing but solid rock. Standing on a shallow, scattered sandstorm makes me feel majestic.
Jack hesitates to sit around the rocky mountains. I tapped the rock with my fist. I felt a strong reaction. Jack was not very familiar with science when he was a child, so he did not know what the stone was made of, but he could see that it was never a brick of brick. Rather, it was very hard.
I sat still and looked up at the sky with my head bent. I saw the peak far away as the background of the blue sky without a single cloud. It was quite high, at first glance.
‘We came all this way.’
I unconsciously sighed a shallow sigh. The size of the mountain was unexpectedly large. Only the map you have ends with the Demon King’s mark on the mountain sign in the middle of the desert. That is, there seemed to be a dungeon somewhere in this mountain, but I was wondering where to start looking. Real-world hiking trails might not even be dreamy, but rather the sheer cliffs that are everywhere could be seen, and we might have to do rock climbing that isn’t on our feet. Callie gets out of the kiln and approaches Jack to see if she’s worried, too.
“Can I find it here?”
“· · · · · · · · · · First bring the old man.”
Jack gestures, staring almost at the peak of the rock. Callie takes his orders and heads to the cart where the skeletons dragged her. You open the door of the cart with skeletons. There was a stench. Callie raises her hand to block her nose and approaches the cart, resisting the frown.
The cart looked like an illegal immigration group in real life. A group of people, clothed in shy, ugly cloths, were trembling. Callie glances down at the people deep inside the wagon as if they were trying to get away from her somehow. Now they didn’t need much. Callie points to one old man in a crowd of people.
“There, Grandpa. Come out for a minute.”
The crowd gazes at the old man. The old man, who seemed to have been called often, used to break out of the crowd. However, I could see that the old man was fearing less as he was shaking. Calling out to the old man, Callie turns her back without a word, and follows behind her, bowing her head and shrugging. As Callie and the old man left, the skeletons closed the door to the cart.
“I brought it.”
Jack turns his head to the side. I see an old man behind Callie. A resident of a village in the vicinity of this desert, an old man who had been Jack’s guide so far. Of course, there were some blood and threats in the process of making a request, but the old man showed the way so well that Jack was satisfied. Honestly, Jack, who lived only in the modern city, was an agent who found his way in a desert without a milestone. Without this old man, we would not have made it to our destination in such a short time. First of all, Jack was very grateful to the old man.
Jack pointed his finger at the rock.
“Elder Man. Did you find anything special on this mountain?”
“T, something special?”
The old man was terrified of the men and women in front of him. They came as if they were plagues. At first, I found someone who knew the geography of the desert well. So I thought he was just a traveler crossing the desert. Their village was very pleased with them because they were able to feed and live with such travellers. But the pleasure did not last long. Soon after, they killed everyone in the village except themselves and some of the villagers. And the survivors, to be precise, brought to the cart the villagers they didn’t kill.
At first, I was afraid to see them make a moving skeleton. A moving skeleton is a magical object from the Demon King who terrorized the world 50 years ago. It means that they are somehow connected to the Demon King. Knowing that, the old man was in a position not to even dream of rebelling. They just had to be dragged around, hoping for mercy.
“I see. Caves and strange symbols and such.” ”
The old man recalled his desperate thoughts. Since I was old, I could barely remember what I ate yesterday, but now I have to think of something. Otherwise, even if their minds were twisted, they could die, not only themselves, but all the surviving minds. However, no matter how hard he searched his brain, there was no peculiarity. In the beginning, the old man didn’t even remember going up this mountain. When I crossed the desert while I was a child, I often had to sleep around here. At that time, I went up to a certain height to avoid the sand breeze, and I didn’t remember conquering some mountain and going to the top. The desert was not a good place to come here to do such a dirty thing. I had a feeling it was easy to come by now, but it was thanks to their tireless workers, Skeleton Horses, and the endless supply of food and water wherever they were supplied. It was impossible for an ordinary person to cross the desert so easily.
Eventually, the old man shakes his head trembling. No matter how much I thought about it, I couldn’t find any other traits in my brain.
“I see.”
Jack was lightly disappointed. I felt like I had to run around looking for him on my own feet.
“Callie.”
“Yes, my lord.”
Callie runs next to Jack like a dog called the owner. Jack looked up at the sky and said,
“Scour the rocks with them. Let me know if there’s anything like a cave.”
“Yes!”
As soon as Jack gives the order, Callie signals her loyal servants. They spread through the air as soon as her owner signaled. And then it started going down like a shot.
“Good thing I caught a few more.”
Callie looks at her slaves as they move in a bewilderment. I added a few more during my trip to the Undead for reconnaissance. Reconnaissance has been a very important task, beyond Jack and Callie, to keep the Undead out of the way. Therefore, the addition of undead for reconnaissance was quite useful when given the opportunity.
“But, my lord. If we turn them in for a search, we’ll lose sight of the perimeter patrol.”
“Kill or be fed, we climb up the rocky mountain first. Spread some skeletons around the hillside. Watching from the mountains will be a good thing.”
It’s best to look down from a high place, no matter what you do around here. It may not be as efficient as looking down from the sky as the Undead, but in the middle of a desert without any cover, looking down from the hillside is still viable.
Callie, under Jack’s command, begins to move the skeletons in a daze. Glittering, the blue naturalization begins to move slowly, shimmering skeletons in empty voids. Skeletons skillfully start climbing the rocks, as if rocky rocks weren’t an obstacle.
“How are you holding up?”
“I think it’s a close call. The rocky mountains are high, but the perimeter is not wide.”
Perhaps you should be thankful for a mountain that rises as sharp as an awl. Even though the slopes were naturally steep and difficult to climb because the circumference rose high on a topic that was not so wide.
“Let’s go up, then. The rest of the skeletons, keep an eye out for Humans, and get the rest of them back on the grid.”
“Yes.”
You leave the smallest number of skeletons left in Jack’s command, and they all start climbing the rocks. The white bones seem frightened at first glance to cross the gray rock in a daze. However, Jack and Callie have not had much of a reaction, as if they were already familiar. Simply, the ordinary NPCs, which begin to disembark one or two from the cart, shudder and stare.
You pull all the villagers out of the cart because the cart can no longer climb over the rocky mountain. Surveillance stations have attached several skeletons. As with little combat strength, there was no need to add more skeletons to one village. Some people weep in horror, but Jack’s group doesn’t blink. Jack’s guilt was almost dry already, and Callie’s attitude was irrelevant, as long as it wasn’t about Jack. The skeletons that didn’t even exist had nothing to say. Eventually, the villagers forced their feet to climb up the rocks behind Jack and Callie, following the unstoppable threat of the skeletons.
